Overview

As an Associate Instructional Designer you will be responsible for designing and implementing training programs to support business needs. You’ll be partnering with stakeholders to assess needs, review content, and track progress to learning objectives, and manage training programs from start to finish. Additionally, you’ll collect assessment data to refine programs and perform ongoing updates to existing material. 

Responsibilities

  • Perform training needs assessments to understand what learners need to know or do differently and identify any gaps in current training or knowledge
  • Define clear instructional goals and objectives based on the assessment of needs
  • Develop course outlines, storyboards, scripts, or other materials to guide the creation of learning content
  • Develop or oversee the creation of educational material such as e-learning courses, videos, job aids, or other educational materials
  • Apply modern learning theory and instructional design principles to create efficient and effective learning experiences
  • Work closely with subject matter experts, trainers, or stakeholders to ensure accuracy and relevance of instructional content
  • Use various assessment tools to measure learning outcomes and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs
  • Manage instructional design projects from inception to completion including managing timelines, resources, and stakeholders
  • Update or revise content based on feedback from learners, subject matter experts (SMEs), or changes in the process or product
  • Manage course deployment, and track completion on a Learning Management System

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in instructional design or a closely related field is preferred. This could include experience with e-learning development, curriculum design, or teaching/training
  • Understanding of instructional design models and principles (like ADDIE or SAM), learning theories, and educational psychology
  • Familiarity with e-learning authoring tools (like Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and learning management systems (like Lessonly, Moodle, Blackboard, or Canvas)
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish, including organizing resources and timelines and working with stakeholders
  • Skilled in working with multimedia technology and content creation tools for designing visual and audio components of a course (like Adobe Photoshop, Audacity, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for developing content and working with a team
  • The ability to assess courses for their efficacy and make necessary adjustments
  • Understanding and experience designing for different learning styles or for different types of learners
  • Proven ability to collaborate with subject matter experts and other team members to create effective instructional materials
