Job Summary:
The Global Network LifeCycle Management team is responsible to manage carrier grade multi-vendor Interconnection platforms. Performs routine planned software upgrades, hardware refresh, bulk circuit migrations, configuration management, hardware decommissioning to ensure world class network is maintained to deliver stable network services to our customers.
Reporting to the Global Networks LifeCycle Management team, the Customer Migration Engineer is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of migration activities. Responsibilities include:
Sending and receiving EIA Initiation and Order Forms from/to customers
Performing initial checks and validations of order forms
Sending confirmations to customers and forwarding forms to COMS
Creating quotes and configuring orders based on customer specifications
Drafting and reviewing Methods of Procedure (MOP)
Coordinating network configuration and L1 audits
Scheduling and executing Pre-Check and Activation (TUCs)
Handling exceptional cases with cross-functional coordination
Supporting post-migration documentation and customer follow-up
Ensuring all tasks follow change management and operational standards
Collaborating with internal teams to resolve migration blockers
Reporting to the Global Networks LifeCycle Management team, this role will be responsible for planning and executing on a multi-vendor network various functions including carrying out network installations and capacity upgrades, migrations, software upgrade and planned maintenance activities on Internet service provider networks and peering exchanges.
Reports to the Global Networks LifeCycle Management team.
Uses platform scripting tools to generate new and incremental configurations to be applied to network equipment.
Integrates new/old network platforms into regional and global production network backbones.
Carries out scheduled out of hours maintenance activities according to change management policy.
Bulk devices software upgrade on a multi-vendor service provider network
Service migration
Create/participate in the creation of SOW and identify services to be migrated
Ensure IBX does the cable audit and update the SOW file (you’ll need to request IBX update you on the best device to use to allocate the new port)
Allocate new port to replace the old one
Build new service configuration
Write migration MOP and create CMR
Execute the maintenance
Send migration maintenance outcome to Network Data team
Supports service decommission of old equipment.
Remove all configuration from a device
Working with the IBX, arrange safe de-install of devices
Arrange for proper disposal of the device adhering to eWaste
Service remediation and documents update
3 to 5 years’ experience as a network engineer ideally from an ISP or Telco background.
Has previously worked on medium to large production networks in a support role
Experience of working with carrier grade equipment from at least 2 of the following vendors – Juniper, Nokia, Arista and Cisco.
Required technical skills - MPBGP, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS, L2VPN, L3VPN.
Desirable technical skills - VXLAN, EVPN, Network Automation Tooling, Python, Optical networks/DWDM.
Previous experience of tier2/ tier 3 network support.
Vendor certifications - e.g. JNCIA, CCNA, NRS I are desirable
