Overview

This role will give you the opportunity to enhance your skillset by incorporating high level of technological skills in an entirely paperless environment and be given the opportunity to find new or more creative and resourceful ways to accomplish the department's objectives. As a Construction Accountant you will partner with construction management personnel to ensure the financial success of projects around the globe, apply principles of accounting to record and analyze financial information and prepare financial reports, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of a global organization.

Responsibilities

The Role

Partnering with the Design & Construction group to ensure the financial success of the company’s development projects using the Yardi Job Cost module.
Proactively addressing cost and operational related matters with project managers, asset managers, and other internal project stakeholders.
Supporting departmental leadership with the preparation of recurring and ad-hoc cost analyses.
Input, code, audit and analyze all vendor invoices
Process invoices in timely manner
Responsible for AP aging and ensuring vendors are paid I line with agreed payment terms
Answer accounts payable inquiries and audit queries
Ensure invoices are labelled and stored in accordance with company policy
Research and resolve invoicing discrepancies and errors
Answer invoicing inquiries and escalations
Ensure compliance with SOX Narratives

Qualifications

To be a good fit for the opportunity of as a Construction Accountant, you will have:

  • Real Estate construction/job cost accounting experience is desirable. An equivalent combination of education and experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of construction cost accounting and general accounting principles. Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data with a strong eye for detail and sense of urgency.
  • Ability to understand the importance of confidentiality and to ensure that confidentiality is maintained.
  • Prior experience working in a multi-national corporation is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where deadlines are tight, and priorities evolve.
  • Effective communication skills, written and oral.
