Overview

As the Senior Accountant – Revenue Accounting for the Americas Region, you will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant recognition of revenue for our recurring and non-recurring services. This includes reviewing contracts, applying ASC 606 and ASC 842 guidance, and working closely with billing and collections, operations, and finance teams to support the full revenue lifecycle. The ideal candidate possesses a high level of attention to detail, technical accounting expertise, and strong cross-functional collaboration, particularly in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

  • Support the revenue accounting function for Americas data center properties, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and corporate policies.

  • Prepare high risk and complex journal entries and reconciliations; review journal entries and reconciliations prepared by other team members.

  • Analyze and present accurate, data-driven financial analysis related to revenue performance, contract trends, and operational trends, including KPIs, to accounting leadership.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with revenue recognition; ensure timely issue escalation and assist leadership in resolution planning.

  • Maintain prescribed financial controls, close timelines, and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, U.S. GAAP, and internal policies. Identify opportunities to optimize processes and enhance reporting efficiency.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of ASC 606 and ASC 842, and properly apply revenue recognition standards to complex customer contracts, multi-element arrangements, and recurring revenue models.

  • Actively support internal and external audits related to areas of responsibility, ensuring timely and accurate financial information is provided.

  • Contribute to transformation initiatives, including identifying areas for automation, reporting enhancements, and process streamlining in partnership with stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Participate in the implementation and optimization of accounting software and tools to improve efficiency and reporting quality.

  • Ensure data integrity between subledgers, ERP systems, and revenue tools; collaborate with IT and systems teams to troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

  • Active CPA certification required.

  • 5 + years of progressive, diverse experience within dynamic, high-growth environments, with at least 1 year focused on revenue or lease accounting.

  • Understanding of ASC 606 and ASC 842 and its application to recurring services and multi-element arrangements.

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and SOX compliance.

  • Experience in a large, publicly traded company and the data center, telecom, SaaS, real estate or other recurring revenue industries is highly preferred.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functional departments and with senior leadership.

  • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., Blackline, Yardi, Oracle, SAP, or similar). Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis; ability to work with large data sets and complex contracts.

  • Prior software implementation experience highly preferred.

  • Organizational skills, detail-oriented mindset, and a high sense of urgency.
